Back to Work

What do you do when you have to be separated from your baby?

Protect your milk supply

Being separated from your baby for long periods of time like while at work has risk to affecting your milk supply. To maintain your milk supply, we have to initiate a pumping schedule while you are away.

Introduce a bottle safely

If a baby has been exclusively breastfeeding, it may take them time to get used to taking a bottle while you are away. It is a good idea to start introducing one before you plan on being separated to start practicing. A technique called paced-bottle feeding can be used to prevent nipple confusion or preference of feeding from a bottle over feeding from the breast.

Emotional support

Being separated from your baby can be an emotionally difficult time. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months, but the average maternity leave in the United States is only 10 weeks. I’m here for you and want to support you through this.
